What to Expect at Redemption Services?
It is our heart to be a welcoming place where people are able to encounter the person of Jesus through His word and singing songs of praise of His mercies.
9:00AM Sunday School Hour
During the Fall and Spring join one of our three Sunday School classes: Young Adults: Upstairs; Mix Large Group: Big Room; Mix Small Group: Steve’s Office. During the summer we have one Sunday School at round tables in the Big Room.
10:00AM Worship Hour
Our service consists of elements that aid us in the worship of God, primarily prayer, singing, the reading of God's Word, preaching, and the ordinances (the Lord's Supper and baptism). Our services normally last around 60 to 75 minutes.
Childcare and Children’s Classes
We offer the following options for children while their parents participate in worship and adult classes. For children 2 and up, we have classes that meet during the Sunday School hour on Sunday mornings. In these classes, children will have a Bible lesson and other related activities; for children under 2, we offer childcare during the Sunday School hour. For worship services, we have childcare or kid’s discipleship for pre-k and under. For our 3-4 year olds we ask that you take your children into the worship service with you first the first part of the service, and they will then head to their class after the third song.
Music
As for the music, most people would characterize our worship music as "contemporary" due to its style and form. However, our goal is to bring a mix of hymns and contemporary songs to worship God. Our prayer is that everyone who attends Redemption can learn from, sing, and enjoy the songs chosen.
Preaching
As for the reading and preaching of God's Word, that is the main element of our service and is, in and of itself, an act of worship. We typically preach straight through books of the Bible, as we think this is the best way to learn “the whole counsel of God”, while also incorporating “series” when the elders see fit. This keeps us from skipping difficult and uncomfortable subjects. Therefore, our preaching is centered on God, who he is, what he is doing in the world, and how we can know him. Nevertheless, our prayer is that our preaching is highly relevant to your life.
Ordinances
As a Baptist church, we believe there are two ordinances: the Lord's Supper and baptism. We celebrate the Lord's Supper together and welcome all Christians who actively trust in Jesus Christ to take the Lord’s Supper with us. As for baptism, when someone professes faith in Christ, and the church finds that testimony to be credible, we baptize the new believer by immersion during a Sunday morning service, which normally coincides with them becoming a member.
Celebration Services
Once quarter we have a service called “Celebration Services”. This is day where we have no Sunday School hour and no childcare or kid’s classes during the 10:00am Worhsip Area. Yes, we know it can be “crazy” in the room, but we believe this is great way to worship as an entire family as a church. These services often include: kid’s singing on stage, parent commissioning, baptism, etc.
What to wear?
Most will be dressed in casual attire (jeans); however, if you are comfortable wearing a more formal attire please do! We long to be a place where people are gathered by their common love for Jesus which has an eternal bond, rather than their temporal preferences in dress, style, age, culture,…
